A printable crossword, new every day
Prefer pen and paper? Every Chaosword puzzle has a Print button that lays the grid and clues out like a newspaper page. Print it, or choose Save as PDF in your browser to keep a copy.
How to print today’s crossword
Printing takes a few seconds:
- Open today’s puzzles and pick the edition you want: the 5x5, 7x7, or 11x11.
- Press the Print button above the grid.
- Your browser’s print window opens with a clean layout: just the grid and the clue list, with no buttons or menus.
- Print it, or choose Save as PDF as the destination to keep a file.
Three sizes for different moods
The Morning 5x5 fits in a corner of the page and suits a quick break. The Evening 7x7 is a satisfying size for a commute. The Midnight 11x11 is the one to print for a long lunch or a quiet evening, with enough room on the page to work through crossings in pencil.
Print past puzzles from the archive
Every day since launch on 31 August 2026 has its own archive page with all three grids. You can print a week of puzzles at once for a trip, a waiting room, or a puzzle night, all free.
Checking your answers
Paper solvers can check their work by opening the same puzzle on the site and filling in their answers. Check marks any wrong letters in red, and Reveal shows the right letter or word. Themed days also unmask their hidden theme once the grid is solved.
Good for groups and classrooms
Because everyone gets the same puzzle each day, printed copies work well for a group. Hand out the 5x5 as a warmup and race through it together, or use the 11x11 for a team round. Puzzles are free for personal and classroom use.
Tips for solving on paper
Paper solving rewards a slightly different approach from solving on a screen:
- Use a pencil for guesses and a pen for answers you are sure of.
- Lightly pencil in likely endings like S, ED, or ING before you know the whole word.
- Tick off clues as you fill them so your eye skips straight to the open ones.
- Work the corner with the most filled letters first, then spread out from there.
- If you stall, put it down for ten minutes. Fresh eyes find answers fast.
Print settings that work well
The default settings in most browsers print the grid at a comfortable size. Portrait orientation suits the 5x5 and 7x7, and the 11x11 has room to breathe either way. Turn off headers and footers in the print window if you want a cleaner page, and pick black and white to save ink, since the layout is already high contrast.
